Why didn't you just duct fresh air into the room? I put a dryer vent on the outside (under deck) and use it to draw fresh air in thru 4-in ducting down to a floor register in the bottom kick plate of the stairs. Out of the way but easy to access. Open it in winter when wood stove is running... close it in summer. No motors. No warranty's. No repairs. No replacements. I also have ICF's (for my basement) and am amazed that you don't have a concrete board barrier between the insert opening and the ICF forms! They don't 'burn' easily but DO 'melt' down and outgas until the temps are high enough to cause open flame. You're the man, I know you KNOW how do do things so hoping you'll elaborate so I understand more! (I iz a jack-leg... but still try to learn!)

I made the switch from being an industrial electrician living that life to a residential electrician at an hvac company. It is physical but not back breaking and im getting industrial rate still. I personally enjoy it, it keeps me in shape, like how some people go to the gym, also i get around 80k per year and i dont even work a full 40 hours per week usually. Get to see my family every day, im happy, but i understand its not for everyone. Each to their own. Oh an also, working with your hands, you WILL be able to save a fk ton on doing your own DIYs at home.

Why would I install a heat pump when, for insurance purposes you need a 2nd type of heat source in your house. Could it be because they don't provide enough heat at -30? Instead I upgraded my Natural gas furnace to a 90% efficient one. Sorry but unless electrical prices really drop I cant see the advantage.

We have recently added an addition to the back of our house, but the HVAC wasn't rated to handle the space. This seems like a very reasonable solution.

Had my system professionally installed about 2 months ago for the whole home. Even had a water thing put under my sink for osmosis or something like that. That water by the sink tastes so clean and fresh. Now no more kidney stones due to all the calcium buildup in our water.

I turned off of Central unit last Janurary. Our system was a ream 2020 unit and it just couldn't keep up after the temperature went below 30. We bought two pioneer mini splits. And we love them. They are super quiet and they work perfect. Now we pay 40 dollors for electricity every month. Before we got these when it was cold our electricity bill was $600 for one month.

I'm curious how the cover is coming off of the electrical compartment on the OD unit for the standard split system? I guarantee even a stubby isn't getting between the wall and the screw. Looks like the clearances in the install guide are being ignored. You can't put coils an inch from a wall and expect correct airflow and heat transfer.
